Pacific Symphony: Founded in 1978, Pacific Symphony in Orange County, California, is the largest orchestra formed in the United States in the last 30 years. Led by Music Director Carl St.Clair, the Symphony is recognized as an outstanding orchestra making strides on both the national and international scene as well as in its own burgeoning cultural community. The Wall Street Journal has remarked, “Carl St. Clair, the Pacific Symphony's dynamic music director, has devoted [16] years to building not only the orchestra's skills but also the audience's trust and musical sophistication -- so successfully that the [Pacific Symphony] can now present some of the most innovative programming in American classical music to its fast-growing, rapidly diversifying community.”

The B-52s: While the B-52s certainly wouldn't be as popular and successful as they are with singers Cindy Wilson, Kate Pierson, and drummer Keith Strickland, it's Paul Schneider's unique voice that makes the music of this American rock band unmistakeable. Their timeless songs have become the perfect accompaniment to any party or good time, and their tour dates are themselves celebrations. While their recording careers have slowed in recent years, The B-52s still play more than 50 shows a year, including tour dates in 2011.

The B-52s formed after the individual members shared a Flaming Volcano drink at a Chinese restaurant. They soon developed a retro style complete with beehive hairdos for the ladies and lounge singer apparel for the men. The B-52s also developed a signature sound that combined dance music and surf rock that created a sort of upbeat new wave sound. This sound first appeared on their hit single, "Rock Lobster", which led to tour dates at underground clubs in New York and London. The B-52's debut eponymous album was a hit, becoming praised by critics and even garnering kind words from John Lennon before his death. Even after the death of guitarist Ricky Wilson, the B-52's continued to score hits with singles like "Love Shack" and "Roam" off of 1989's Cosmic Thing.

The B-52s latest album, Funplex, has also received great reviews from critics and reached #11 on the charts. The band has only a dozen or so remaining tour dates in 2011, which end on September 13. Buy your tickets on Eventful soon or risk waiting another year to see the B-52s live!
