The members of Keane became friends while at school and struggled in obscurity until the release of the single "Everybody's Changing" in 2003. This was followed by the hugely successful release "This Is the Last Time", which appeared on their debut album, Hopes and Fears. The album went platinum nine times and launched Keane into stardom, which included huge tour dates that were a far cry from the DIY shows they had previously played. The concert schedule brought Keane popularity in the US, as did their follow-up album, Under the Iron Sea. This album also quickly went multi-platinum and featured more of an electronic influence on hit singles like "Is It Any Wonder?" and "Nothing In My Way."
Keane's latest release, Perfect Symmetry, makes more prominent use of guitars, but the added instrumentation adds more layers to Keane's music instead of detracting from the piano. Keane's enthusiastic recording efforts for their upcoming album means no tour dates in 2011, but fans can expect one dilly of a concert schedule once it is finished.
